As I have been doing annual year ahead tarot readings for clients, I always also make time to do I reading for myself, which I share on my blog, so I can refer back to it often. This was last year’s reading and it makes a lot of sense to me and helped me shed light on this year; https://www.joyincreation.com/2019/12/30/my-2020-tarot-year-ahead-reading/

Usually I pick one card for every month plus a theme of the year card, but this year I was inspired by Sage Priestess (Vanessa Sage) to use her Wheel of the Year spread.

Deck: The True Heart Intuitive Tarot
  1. Winter – Rebirth of the Soul : King of Cups speaks of tolerance and empathy and yes these are so needed in this time, more than ever and yes I have been challenged to be tolerant and emphatic when I have felt so frustrated at times by people’s reaction to world events, but I am learning to be patient and show compassion, this time is great for learning and choosing what you stand for, team love or team fear. I feel that to get in touch with my Soul I need to focus and commit to my path as I have been too distracted in the past year by all that is going on in the world that I sort of forgot to use my intuition in my power to create as much as I should. Focus and commit to my path without becoming too rigid and strict. This card is about finding inner stability to become a passionate leader.
  2. Imbolc – Creative Sparks : 3 of Swords speaks of heartbreak, ouch. Now often heartbreak makes the greatest art and inspires us to rise up and heal. This card signifies why I haven’t been very creative lately, I have been feeling quite mournful the past year, but this card also signals my period of mourning life before Covid is coming to an end and that it is time to create something better. Again re-engage with my heart and my intuition to heal and to open up to new creativity.
  3. Spring – Play and Joy : Ace of Discs is more a card about finances, work and success, so a bit odd to be in this position, but I guess it is possible to provide an income and have success by doing what you love. Also play and joy transmutes ones energy to attract more abundance and I have been telling myself a lot lately to play more and not take everything so seriously as it will burn me out and positive vibes will help us through our collective situation and help create something better. So ground, play, have fun!
  4. Beltane – Sensuality and Sexuality : IV The Emperor, well not a very sexy card as it speaks of authority, rules and security and nah not really my type. I feel this card is telling me to loosen my personal Emperor traits such as my need to control and rationalizing and trying to understand situations and throw it into the Beltane bonfire for transmutation into pure creative potential. Ground and release this in chaotic sensuality and surrender, feel and sense instead of think and plan, let go, loosen the reigns.
  5. Summer – Radiant Abundance : King of Swords, again not a card I think of when I think of Summertime as this is not the warmest king in the deck. I feel this card inspires me to communicate my ideas clearly and protect what I hold dear by shining my light and with the King of Swords this is honesty, justice and intelligence and this can be very radiant and abundant. Let my light reflect from the sword and point to the dark places that need clarity. The Truth will light me up and inspire me.
  6. Lammas – Generosity and Sacrifice : 10 of Wands shows me I need to have grit and determination and stop carrying the burdens and responsibilities that are not mine. I need to put up healthy boundaries so I can share from an overflowing cup, not drain myself.
  7. Fall – Creation and Destruction : Prince of Discs reminds me that slow and steady wins the race. Don’t get caught up and entangled in drama and chaos and create my reality from a grounded and cohesive energy. Focus and project forward.
  8. Samhain – Releasing : Ace of Wands asks me to let go of the blocks and distraction that keep me from focussed manifestation. The greatest block is fear, release this, create from a place of Love and receive this spark of inspired creation without doubts and restrictions.

    And so it is.
My theme for 2021 – 5 of Cups

My personal theme for 2021 is the 5 of Cups which tells me to take plenty of time for self-care as these times are challenging and intense. Regroup after the heartbreak and mourning over life before Covid. Let go of the past and don’t focus on what is gone or not possible anymore, and put my energy in what can be accomplished and is emerging.

My personal year is 21 The World and this represents an ending to a cycle of life, a pause in life before the next big cycle beginning with The Fool. It is completeness and tells us full happiness is to also give back to the world: sharing what we have learned or gained.

Here’s to a bright future!

Happy and blessed 2021 xx
